Build a daily water-logging routine with HydraTag

A routine here means a logging habit, not a quota. The aim is that drinking and logging happen together often enough that History tells you something true. These examples use only what the free app does today.

Anchor drinks to moments you already have

Habits attach best to things that already happen. Pick two or three fixed moments and decide in advance which container and which quick button belong to each.

Set the presets once

In Settings, make the three Quick log amounts match the containers in your table. If the numbers do not match real containers you will hesitate, and hesitation is where logging stops. See manual logging.

Let reminders do the nudging, then get out of the way

Turn on reminders with a schedule that fits your day and keep Pause after my first drink on. The app then reminds you until you have started, and goes quiet once you have. On a day you start early, you may never see a reminder; that is the design. Details in water reminders.

Use the sticker for the bottle you carry most

If one bottle goes everywhere with you, that is the one to put a sticker on. Write its full size as the per-tap amount, finish the bottle, tap, refill. Partial bottles still go through Choose another amount. One free sticker comes with the planned HydraTag Pro upgrade, and in the forthcoming release tap logging will be a Pro feature; the tap itself is explained in NFC sticker logging.

Review weekly, not hourly

Open History once a week on the 7-day view. Look at goal days and at which weekday is weakest, then change one thing: a different anchor moment, a bigger bottle at your desk, or an earlier reminder. Avoid judging a single day. The history guide explains each figure.

Keep it honest

  • Log what you drank, not what you meant to drink. Undo is one tap away.
  • If the goal is clearly wrong for you, change it in Settings rather than chasing it.
  • Days off are fine. The 7-day average absorbs them, and the point is the trend.

A day that adds up

With the table above and a 2,000 ml goal: 250 ml on waking, 500 ml at the desk, 500 ml after lunch, 400 ml typed after training, 350 ml in the evening. That is 2,000 ml in five logs, three of them by quick button or sticker. Your own numbers will differ; the app does not judge them, and the goal is whatever you set.

HydraTag records what you log and reminds you when you ask it to. It does not measure your body, assess your health or tell you how much to drink.
