HydraTag free app vs HydraTag Pro: what stays free
HydraTag is sold as an app, not as a sticker. The current Android app is free. HydraTag Pro is a planned one-time upgrade that will include one free NFC sticker and, in the forthcoming release, will be what unlocks NFC tap logging. This page keeps the current version and the upcoming tier apart.
Current version vs forthcoming release
| Feature | Current app (version 0.1.10) | Forthcoming release |
|---|---|---|
| Quick-add logging with three editable amounts, plus any typed amount | Free | Free |
| Undo, remove a drink, clear today, delete all history | Free | Free |
| History: 7-day, 30-day and yearly charts, daily average, goal days, totals | Free | Free |
| Water reminders (3, 4 or 6 a day, pause after first drink) | Free | Free |
| Daily water progress notification (Android) and Daily Drop fact | Free | Free |
| Millilitres or US fluid ounces, light or dark appearance, optional name and silhouette | Free | Free |
| NFC tap logging | Free | HydraTag Pro |
| NFC sticker setup, read and write | Free | HydraTag Pro |
| Account | None needed | None for the free app; Pro needs account verification |
In the current app version (0.1.10), NFC sticker setup and tap logging are free. In the forthcoming release, NFC tap logging and sticker setup, reading and writing will require an active HydraTag Pro upgrade; manual logging, quick add, reminders, history and unit choice stay free. The published app on Google Play today is version 0.1.10 and does not yet enforce the Pro gate; the change arrives with the forthcoming release, not retroactively. Guides for each free part start at using the free app.
What HydraTag Pro is
HydraTag Pro is a planned upgrade for the same app: US$9.99 paid once as a Google Play in-app purchase, not a recurring charge. It unlocks NFC tap logging and sticker setup in the forthcoming release and includes one free NFC sticker. Any further Pro features will be described on the Pro page before purchases open; nothing beyond this is promised here, and nothing can be bought yet.
What Pro will need from you
- Account verification. The free app needs no account. Pro is verified against your purchase, so the forthcoming release will ask you to verify an account before NFC features unlock.
- Shipping details. After purchase you claim the included sticker from a dedicated delivery step inside the app (or a purchase-linked page the app opens), choose Standard or On-metal, and enter a shipping address.
- Shipping payment. You pay shipping. That is disclosed before you buy Pro, and the actual shipping total with applicable tax is shown before you pay for shipping.
The included sticker
- One free NFC sticker per Pro purchase, in the version you choose: Standard for plastic or glass, On-metal for steel. See which sticker fits your bottle.
- The sticker is a benefit of buying Pro, not what proves you own Pro. Compatible third-party NFC stickers may work for Pro users, but a sticker never unlocks Pro.
- Delivery launches in Canada and the USA; see delivery and order status.
- The sticker is not sold separately. There is no sticker-only purchase path.
- The sticker is a shortcut for logging a fixed amount; it does not measure water. See how sticker logging works.
What is not open yet
Pro purchases, account verification, sticker claims, shipping prices, delivery estimates, the release date of the gated version and any further Pro feature list. HydraTag Pro is coming for US$9.99 one time with one free NFC sticker included. You pay shipping; the delivery charge and applicable tax will be shown before payment. Canada and USA first. Pro purchases and sticker claims are not open yet. In the forthcoming release, NFC tap logging and sticker setup, reading and writing will require an active HydraTag Pro upgrade; manual logging, quick add, reminders, history and unit choice stay free.
Refunds and remedies
No physical return of the included sticker is required. Paid app refund rights and remedies for damaged or undelivered shipments still apply. Final terms will be published before purchases open.
If you read a page that sells HydraTag stickers on their own, it is out of date. The offer is the app upgrade; the sticker comes with it.
