HydraTag phone compatibility and bottle care

Compatibility means more than a phone detecting a sticker. The app, the phone, the sticker and the bottle surface have to work together through your actual routine, including washing. Here is what is confirmed and what is not.

The app and your phone

The HydraTag Android app is free on Google Play; check the listing for availability on your device. Manual logging, reminders and history need no NFC at all, so the app is usable on any Android phone the listing supports. Logging with a sticker needs an NFC-enabled phone with NFC turned on and the screen unlocked. In the current app version (0.1.10), NFC sticker setup and tap logging are free. In the forthcoming release, NFC tap logging and sticker setup, reading and writing will require an active HydraTag Pro upgrade; manual logging, quick add, reminders, history and unit choice stay free. iPhone support is not yet confirmed; a general statement that a phone supports NFC does not verify the HydraTag routine.

Bottle surface

Standard stickers are intended for non-metal plastic and glass. On-metal stickers use a ferrite backing for steel and other metal surfaces; see Standard or On-metal. Reading range and adhesion must be checked with the actual sticker and bottle: finishes, curves and phone cases all affect placement.

Washing and durability

Neither sticker version is currently confirmed dishwasher-safe or suitable for soaking. Supplier water-resistance wording alone does not verify durability under repeated bottle washing, heat or detergent. Care instructions will be published after testing, before Pro purchases open. Until then, treat the sticker as hand-wash only: rinse the bottle rather than soaking it, keep the sticker out of the dishwasher, and check that your phone still reads it after cleaning.

Covers and packaging

The included sticker is a plain round NFC tag; decorative covers are not included. A thin non-metallic sticker on top may be tried, followed by a read check. Avoid metallic or foil covers, do not bend the antenna, and do not apply untested adhesives.

What this page is

This page describes what is confirmed today; it is not a tested compatibility guarantee, and it will be updated when the tested sticker list is published. If a sticker does not suit your bottle, the app keeps working by hand; see tracking without a sticker. HydraTag Pro is coming for US$9.99 one time with one free NFC sticker included. You pay shipping; the delivery charge and applicable tax will be shown before payment. Canada and USA first. Pro purchases and sticker claims are not open yet. In the forthcoming release, NFC tap logging and sticker setup, reading and writing will require an active HydraTag Pro upgrade; manual logging, quick add, reminders, history and unit choice stay free.
